Well. Can you bloody believe it? The Arvon course got cancelled! Again! They gave me five days notice! I lost a week's money from my temping job; I lost money from not being able to take any bookings for workshops or performances for that week; I lost money because I had already bought my train ticket! I was gutted. I was really looking forward to getting some feedback and developing my performance piece. I was also cross because I had held off returning my Art Council evaluation as I wanted to include my experiences at Arvon and talk about how it had helped me etc. I sulked for a whole week and the weather helped my miserable mood considerably as it rained and rained.

Last week was Whit Week and the centre where I temp was closed anyway so I decided to work on my Punch and Judy in the way I had planned to at Arvon. I worked really hard on rehearsing words and also on blocking through all of the moves. It now flows! There are some clunks here and there but there is certainly a flow. I'm going to get an actor/director that I know to look over it for me and offer some pointers/suggestions; I'm hoping it is just fine tuning that is required.

I also finished the booth off. I put a false front on for when it is a traditional P and J booth and turned the toilet tent into a TV complete with a glittery sign saying 'The Professor Vyle Show'. Any similarity between the lettering I have used and the lettering that appears on 'The Jeremy Kyle Show' is purely coincidental!

I'm going to finalise the booking for the private view of the performance and the follow up performance at Bantock Park! Brave or stupid - you decide! I am also going to complete the Arts Council evaluation at this point (not least because they are with holding £450 until the paperwork is sent in)! I feel the piece is now fully developed and without the help of the Arvon course I have taken it as far as I can without some kind of objective criticism from others. I just need to keep rehearsing until performances occur.

Let's think what else have I been up to? Oh yes. I went on another pod cast. Check it out it's at www.davespodpoems.com. It's a great show. Dave Finchett is the host and he reads some of his own poems (which are fantastic). He has a guest for every show and also plays a couple of music tracks. It's worth tuning in just to hear Phil Barlow (who might or might not be Dave's alter ego.

I've also been preparing for an imagetextimage exhibition and The Gateway in Shrewsbury. That's on Friday.
